CAMAERA Work Package 8 meets at Oslo

Work Package 8, dedicated to the improvement of the representation of Secondary Organic Aerosols (SOA) in the CAMS regional and global models, met on 10th – 11th February in Oslo.
The workshop, organized by METNorway, gathered scientists from METNorway, HYGEOS, KNMI, INERIS, BSC and University of Aarhus. The main focus of the workshop was the organisation of a series of model intercomparison exercizes dedicated to simulations of Secondary Organic Aerosols by regional and global CAMS models. Exchanges focused on the objectives and modalities of these intercomparison exercizes, so as to maximize their impact on model developments.
It has been decided to organise two rounds of intercomparison, in April-May and September-October, in order to evaluate specific model and emissions developments that are planned to take place in between the two rounds. First results of dedicated model simulations were also shown (figure below) and discussed.
